Danlu Peng
彭丹璐 · multi-disciplinary artist
Working across sculpture, performance, drawing, and game — Danlu's work explores how structures, emotional, physical, social, can be unravelled, reimagined, or broken open to create space for new possibilities.
At the heart of the practice is the body: as mark-maker, performer, player. Physicality becomes both medium and message — a way to navigate the tension between control and chaos. They design playful frameworks — swings at the studio entrance, ceramic instruments, participatory games like “123木头人” — as portals into emotional depth. These ludic structures aren't escapes from reality but blueprints for engaging it differently: with mischief, joy, and vulnerability.
Much of the work navigates the outer edges of order — automatic drawings, broken ceramics, surreal creatures drawn from randomness — each finding new logic in what lies out of shape, out of order, or out of bounds. These outliers are not mistakes but messengers of possibility.
